Band Biography

Craig Jacks: Lead Vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, mandolin, harmonica, ebow, jocularity. Craig "El Jefe" Jacks is our tireless leader and energetic front man. Craig exudes a frenetic energy and directness that captivates people, plus he has a voice that can melt butter or split steel girders. In his spare time, Craig mentors disadvantaged kids, clears forests, works as an emergency aquatic specialist, runs a woodlot, maintains an herb garden, and has travelled the world as an athlete and musician. Geez, slow down.

Johnny Shepp: Electric guitar, background vocals. As an award-winning producer and engineer, as well as a multi-instrumentalist, Johnny has yet to really learn the guitar. Be patient, he's working on it.

Douglas Lechinsky: Drums. Formerly with the Northern Pikes, Douglas is the backbone to the Jackalopes, holding down the authentic roadhouse grooves the Jackalopes love. A world traveller and player, Douglas has been throughout North America and Asia, and brings a wealth of experience and musicality to the band.

John Bews: Electric and Standup Bass. John Bews (Radiogram, Mary Anchetta, Paula Toledo) provides the harmonic foundation and steadiness to the sometimes erratic sonic onslaught the Jackalopes are known for. A dedicated musician, John not only enjoys roots music, but is also well versed in house, rap, and hip hop.

Craig "Sometimes" McCaul: Electric Guitar. McCool should be banned, because he's too good. This fretwork master delivers the shimmer and gloss behind the rawness of the Jackalopes, all with a Buddha-like smile across his face. Quite literally he puts a halo around a group that should be sporting devil's ears. Etherial in nature, Craig is missing from the Jackalopes for now, but he may float in on a gig sometime in the future, keep watching.
